Wands and Staffs.

The question I am asked the most is; how did you come to be a Wand and Staff maker? Answer; I woke up one morning with a vivid image of a wand in my mind. I couldn’t shake it off all day. So I sat with it and worked out the most effective way to recreate this image. What you see in the photos is that final creation.

The knots where the branches and leaves use to be are hollowed out to make indents in the shaft. This is where small crystal chips will be fixed in place with resin. The tip is hollowed out to fix a crystal point i.e. clear quartz, golden healer quartz, amethyst, herkimer diamond etc. this is also fixed in place with resin. The base is also hollowed out to fix a grounding stone i.e. pyrite, hematite, red jasper, black tourmaline etc. also fixed in place with resin. The wand/staff is almost complete. If needed or requested copper wire can be wound around the shaft from base to tip making a stronger conductive connection between base and tip. Last but not least the wand/staff is then varnished.

How are they made?

After the request has been made by telephone, email or letter, I intuitively tune into the person or specific purpose for the wand or staff, to choose the appropriate wood i.e. yew, oak, ash, rowan, hazel, willow, holly etc. I then go to my favourite wood and cut the wand/staff from the required tree (after gaining permission from the tree of course). The branches, twigs and leaves are removed then the bark is stripped, leaving the bare wood.

During this process I begin to feel the energy or personality of the wand/staff. The knots where the branches, twigs and leaves use to be are then hollowed out to make indentations. This is where small crystal chips will be fixed in place with resin. The tip is hollowed out to fix a crystal point i.e. clear quartz, amethyst, herkimer diamond or citrine, this is also fixed in place with resin. The base is also hollowed out to fix a grounding stone i.e. pyrite, hematite, red jasper or black tourmaline this is also fixed in place with resin. The wand/staff is almost complete. If needed or requested copper wire can be wound around the shaft from base to tip making a stronger conductive connection between base and tip. Last but not least the wand/staff is then varnished with 3 coats.

To store and protect your wand/staff a black velvet pouch with ribbon tie can be made if requested.

  • Wands are usually 10"-24" (25-61cms) in length, although I have made 2 special order 3ft wands for Earth Acupuncture Energy work.
  • Staffs are made according to body height and are either single or forked.
  • Price is dependant on size and time taken. I do not cut wood between October 31, Samhain and February 1, Imbolic, as trees are in their winter slumber during these times.
